Life Lab
Drawing on over thirty-five years of work with young people in gardens, Life Lab is a national leader in the garden-based learning movement. Through workshops and consultations, they provide tens of thousands of educators across the country with the inspiration and information necessary to engage young people in gardens and on farms.
This website provides a myriad of useful resoruces for creating and sustaining a school garden, including curriculum, instructional videos, and access to their education workshops and consulting network.
The Growing Classroom: Garden and Nutrition Activity Guide is written for K-5 students, but many lessons can be adapted for those who are in middle or high school. The most recent Fourth Edition has a new chapter on Healthy Eating and an expanded resource section on Cooking with Kids. A copy of this 140 lesson curriculum can be purchased from Life Lab or borrowed from the California Healthy Kids Resource Center, which is part of the California Department of Education.
