Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program
OVERVIEW:

The Expanded Food & Nutrition Education Program is a partnership of the University of California, the USDA, county governments, and California residents. The program's mission is to assist low-income youth and families with young children to acquire knowledge, skills, attitudes, and changed behavior necessary to choose nutritionally sound diets and to contribute to their personal development and the improvement of total family diet and nutritional welfare.

Their website provides a list of youth nutrition curricula for reference. It also includes a list of relevant research articles on dietary behavior, physical activity, goal setting promotion in youth education, teacher recruitment, family-based obesity prevention, and validated evaluation measures.

RECOMMENDATION:

Kids can learn healthy eating habits through the Youth EFNEP, coordinated by local UC Cooperative Extension offices. Youth EFNEP offers free nutrition education curricula and training for youth ages 5 to 18 in qualifying schools and youth organizations.
