California Department of Education: Nutrition to Grow On
Nutrition to Grow On is an innovative middle-school curriculum that offers teachers a direct link between the garden and nutrition education. The curriculum teaches children about nutrition and where their food comes from, by taking them through the steps of planting, maintaining, and harvesting their own vegetable garden.
This nine lesson curriculum for grades four through six connects school garden learning activities to science, math, language arts, history, environmental studies, nutrition and health. All lessons are tied to California’s Common Core, Next Generation Science, Health and Nutrition standards.
