Smarter Lunchrooms Movement
OVERVIEW:

Smarter Lunchrooms use easy no-cost and low-cost changes to encourage students to select, eat, and enjoy healthier foods in school without eliminating their abiliy to choose. The Movement's mission is to equip school lunchrooms with evidence-based tools that improve eating behaviors and thus improve the health of children. These interventions can also maintain or improve revenue and increase participation.

"A smarter lunchroom wouldn’t be draconian. Rather, it would nudge students toward making better choices on their own by changing the way their options are presented.” It is a product of the Cornell Center for Behavioral Economics in Child Nutrition Program, with funding from the USDA.

RECOMMENDATION:

Cost-neutral and low-cost behavioral interventions to facilitate better student choices in school cafeterias.  Based on behavioral economics principles and highly evidence-based.
