Nutrition Education and Obesity Prevention Branch, California Department of Public Health
OVERVIEW:

NEOPB is a statewide movement to improve the health of low-income Californians through increased fruit and vegetable consumption and daily physical activity. NEOPB addresses the statewide obesity epidemic through food and activity education, breastfeeding support, community development strategies, and marketing of healthy behaviors.

It works primarily through innovative partnerships in local health jurisdictions to assess and conduct surveillance of community needs, plan and implement strategies, engage with local stakeholders, and evaluate the health outcomes of the strategies to strengthen the evidence for future practices.

RECOMMENDATION:

NEOPB is in 19 schools with whom UC San Diego is working.
