Growing Minds: Farm to School
OVERVIEW:
Growing Minds (GM), headquartered in North Carolina, works with schools in 60 "Appalachian Grown" Counties. GM provides training for teachers, school nutrition staff, parents, community members, and farmers/ag professionals, as well as producing an annual farm-to-school conference.
The GM website offers lesson plans, recipes, a searchable database of local food and farm children’s literature, and more. GM also provides seeds for school gardens, mini-grants, and promotional materials.
RECOMMENDATION:
Excellent resource for curriculum ideas and successful approaches to implementing farm-to-school programs at the local level around the nation.
